
At least four people were killed and 10 others injured in a clash between the Philippine military and Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in south Philippine province of Basilan on Thursday, military officials said Friday.
Reynaldo Yoma, commander of the military's Joint Task Force Zambasulta, said troops from the Joint Task Group Basilan encountered at least 25 ASG terrorists in Hadji Mohammad Ajul town around 8:25 a.m..
One soldier was killed in the firefight and seven others were injured. On the ASG side, three were killed and three others were injured, said Yoma.
According to Yoma, the operation also resulted in the capture of an ASG bomb factory. Some 19 improvised explosive devices were recovered and subsequently disrupted.
