4 soldiers killed, 2 wounded in PKK bomb attack in southeastern Turkey

A car bomb rocked southeastern city of Turkey on Friday, killing four Turkish security force soldiers, and wounded two others, private Dogan news agency reported.

The bomb planted by the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) militants exploded when an armed military vehicle was passing in Savur town of Mardin province, according to the report.

The wounded were taken to Savur State Hospital for medical treatment, said the report.

Meanwhile, one Turkish policeman was killed and 13 security guards wounded in a military operation against the PKK militants in Sirnak province on Friday, Dogan also reported.

Over 300 members from Turkey's security forces and thousands of PKK members were killed since last July during armed confrontations inside Turkey and in northern Iraq where the PKK are based.

Ankara holds the PKK responsible for waging a separatist war since 1984.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
