Flooding in Thailand, which has been ongoing since mid-September, has affected 4 million people in the country, officials said Monday. About 500,000 people in 15 provinces are currently being affected by the floods, the Bangkok Post reported. Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Director-General Chatchai Promlert said the province of Chachoengsao is in a critical state while Prachin Buri, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani and Buriram have moderate flooding. Floods in Ayutthaya, Nakhon Nayok, Khon Kaen, Si Sa Ket, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakarn, Suphan Buri, Nakhon Pathom and Lopburi provinces are less severe, Chatchai said. The floods have so far damaged 31,523 homes, 6,078 roads, and about 1.4 million acres of farmland, Chatchai said. Eighty people have been killed in flood-related incidents.
