5 injured in Osprey aircraft crash in Fla

Five crew members were injured when a U.S. Air Force tilt-rotor aircraft crashed during a training mission in northwest Florida, a military official said. Amy Nicholson, chief of public affairs at Hurlburt Field\'s Eglin Range north of Navarre in the Florida Panhandle, said the CV-22 Osprey crashed there at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday evening, CNN reported. The five crew members were taken to a hospital, Nicholson said. The extent of their injuries was not known. Nicholson said the cause of the crash is under investigation. The Osprey -- an aircraft that can fly like an airplane and land like a helicopter -- was assigned to the 1st Special Operations Wing, the Air Force said. Ospreys were first deployed by the U.S. Marines in 2007, and the Air Force began using them in 2008. CNN did not say how much damage the Osprey sustained in the crash.
