
Landslides in North Sumatra, Indonesia on Saturday killed 5 people, including a baby, and damaged some houses, an official said here.
Heavy downpours caused the landslides in Sibio Bio village of Tapanuli Tengah district, damaging five houses located on a slope of a hill, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of the national disaster management agency, told Xinhua via phone.
"Rescuers have recovered 4 bodies, but they are still searching for the body of the 4-month-old baby along a river," he said.
The baby fell into a river when the landslides occurred and was swept away by the current, the official said.
