Nine people were killed and 17 were wounded on Tuesday when a bomb ripped through a passenger bus in the southern Philippines, the military said.
The blast occurred after a group of students boarded the bus in front of the Central Mindanao University in Maramag town, in Bukidnon province, dpa reported.
Investigators were still determining the type of explosives used and possible suspects, said Major Christian Uy, an army spokesman.
'Of the nine fatalities, five were male and four were female,' he said.
