Vienna - Irna

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Fereydoun Abbassi, said here on Monday that assassination of scientists and intellectuals of Iran is a dark stain for community of human beings. Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the 55th IAEA General Conference here on Monday, Abbassi said, “You may remember that I survived an assassination being similar to the one killing (another Iranian scientist Mohammad) Shahriari. God Almighty gave me another chance to remain alive and tell this to whole the world people that assassination of people, especially the intellectuals who are human beings’ assets, is something unpleasant.” He said anybody keeping silence against such acts can be said is an accomplice in the crime. He noted that the Zionist Regime is behind such assassination. “The Zionist regime conducts all its activities in the field through support of the US-UK intelligence services,” he added. “We condemn such ugly acts and will not at all retaliate. The scientific achievements should be respected because they do belong to whole the world. We do not consider them confined to a specific state.” On cooperation with the Democratic Republic of North Korea, Abbassi said Tehran has up to the present moment not needed cooperation with the DPRK. “Our science and technology has provided necessary potential for an indigenized task.”
