
Afghan police backed by the army have killed 29 Taliban militants during a series of operations across the country over the past 24 hours, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here on Friday.
During the operations which have been conducted in parts of Kunar, Kunduz, Logar, Khost, Helmand and Farah provinces, eight more militants sustained injuries and three others arrested, the statement further said.
It didn't say if there were any casualties on the security personnel. Taliban militants have yet to make comment.
Afghan forces have mounted pressure on Taliban militants ahead of the June 14 presidential runoff, as Taliban outfit has vowed to derail the election process.
