
Units of Afghan police backed by the army have killed 14 Taliban militants during operations in Taliban former stronghold the southern Helmand province over the past 24 hours, the Interior Ministry said in a statement released here on Monday.
The operations, according to the statement, had been conducted in parts of Nawzad district in Helmand province during which 15 more insurgents had been injured and another captured.
The statement didn't say if there were any casualties on the security personnel.
Taliban militants, who launched massive attacks in several districts of Helmand province 10 days ago, have yet to make comment.
