
At least 22 militants were killed in air strikes carried out by security forces on Friday in Khyber tribal region of Northern Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, said military.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of Pakistan military confirmed that the jets strikes have destroyed many of the militant's hideouts in various parts of Tirah valley of Khyber. The operation Khyber-1 is going on successfully and the troops have moved into key areas, said ISPR.
Khyber is among Pakistan's seven semi-autonomous tribal districts near the Afghan border facing militants' insurgency. Pakistan military is undergoing major operations 'Zarb e Azb' in North Waziristan and 'Khyber1' in Khyber tribal region since June killing over 1200 militants so far.
