
At least 22 people have been killed in the last week as landslides and flooding caused by heavy rain hit parts of Indonesia, an official said.Seven people were killed and seven others missing after heavy rain from late Monday caused a landslide that buried three houses in the village of Ngrimbi in Jombang district, said Sutopo Nugroho, spokesman for the National Disaster Management Agency.Eight people were found alive, he said.On Saturday, three people were killed and 30 people went missing after floodwaters inundated their coastal homes in the North Sulawesi district of Sitaro, Nugroho said.Earlier last week, 12 people died when a landslide buried their houses in the Central Java district of Kudus, he said.The deaths brought the number of people killed in weather-related incidents in Indonesia this month to at least 65.Floods and landslides are common during the rainy season in Indonesia.
