Ugandan opposition leader Kizza Besigye was arrested for unlawful assembly after a police officer was stoned to death during a march in Kampala, police said. Assistant police inspector John Bosco Ariongo died Wednesday after his head was struck by a rock while attempting to block a march led by Besigye. Besigye and 16 other people were arrested. Radio France Internationale said teargas and bullets were used to disperse a mob trying to prevent Besigye\'s arrest. Kampala Mayor Erias Lukwago, Member of Parliament Nabilla Nagayi and Forum for Democratic Change Women\'s League chairwoman Ingrid Turinawe were also arrested, RFI said.
