A blaze at a high-rise hotel in the Thai capital has killed at least one tourist and injured several more. The fire at the 15-story Grand Park Avenue Bangkok hotel broke out late on Thursday night. Officials say that a female tourist died from smoke inhalation. About 20 other people were said to be injured. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire. Firefighters were able to contain it but the smoke spread to rooms. A firefighter said cranes were brought in to help evacuate people screaming for help from the hotel. The 221-room hotel off Sukhumvit Road, formerly known as Grand Mercure Park Avenue, is popular with tourists. BBC
