A Brazilian boy who was impaled on a 2-foot metal spike after falling out of a tree survived the ordeal and has returned home from a hospital, doctors said. Weverton Silva, 10, was sitting on a branch of a guava tree in Rio de Janeiro when the branch snapped, sending him tumbling onto a metal fence. A spike pierced the child's left side and exited behind his right ear, Sky News said. The spear missed an artery and the boy's heart. A 2-hour surgery allowed doctors to remove the spike last week and he child was sent home from the hospital Friday.
