Brazil\'s former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was admitted to hospital on Sunday suffering from a \"mild lung infection\" two weeks after completing radiation therapy for larynx cancer. A statement from Sirio-Libanes Hospital in Sao Paulo said the 66-year-old former leader was diagnosed with a fever along with the infection and would be treated with antibiotics and remain there for several days. Lula, a former smoker who is known for his raspy voice, was diagnosed with cancer last October. He underwent months of chemotherapy and doctors have said his cancer is in remission. Brazil\'s first leftist president led the country from January 2003 to December 2010, leaving office with a soaring 80 percent approval rating after two consecutive terms.
