
A British tourist was trampled to death by two elephants in southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, police said Friday. A police statement said incident happened on Thursday when a 69-year-old British tourist Colin Manvell, a keen birdwatcher, was busy taking pictures in a Tiger reserve located in Masinagudi forest in Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. \"Just as he was taking photographs, two aggressive elephant charged him from behind. The jumbos trampled him down and then hit him by their tuskers,\" police said, \"as a result he got badly injured and bled profusely.\" The police said Brit was rushed to local Gudalur Government Hospital. However, the tourist was declared as brought dead by the hospital authorties. The police said victim Colin Manvell hailed from the town of Havant in southern Britain.
