
At least 13 people were killed and more than 20 injured early Wednesday morning when a passenger bus collided with a truck in Khairpur, Geo News reported.
The accident took place on the Mehran National Highway near Setharja town of Khairpur district in Sindh, around 400 kilometres from the provincial capital Karachi.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Fida Hussain Aiwan, the bus was traveling from Multan to Karachi when it collided with the truck near Setharja.
Six passengers lost their lives on the spot.
The wounded were shifted to hospitals in nearby areas for emergency treatment, where seven of the injured succumbed to their injuries. The dead also included two women.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has taken notice of the accident and ordered authorities to ensure best the possible medical treatment to the injured.
The chief minister has also ordered the Divisional Commissioner and the Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of Police to submit a report on the incident, said a statement from the CM House.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has also expressed his grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in the unfortunate accident.
