Clash between Taliban militants and security forces left eight fighters injured in Jawzjan province with Shiberghan as its capital 390 km north of Kabul on Monday, provincial police chief Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani said.
"Taliban militants raided a police checkpoint in Mardian district today morning and police returned fire injuring eight insurgents and forcing the rebels to run away," Jawzjani told Xinhua.
There were no casualties on security personnel, the official added.
