
At least six laborers were killed and six others wounded due to a blast caused by gas accumulation inside a coalmine in Lower Orakzai tribal agency of northern Pakistan near Afghan border, said officials Thursday.
According to the agency's political administration, the incident happened in Doli area of Orakzai agency due to accumulation of poisonous gas at a time when the laborers were busy in their routine work.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif expressed grief over the deaths.
Over 150 laborers have been killed in incidents at coalmines in the last two years across Pakistan and many mines in Orakzai have been declared dangerous.
