Colombia: Cocaine kingpin is in US hands

An alleged major drug trafficker is being held in New York after surrendering to U.S. agents in Aruba, Colombian officials said Monday. The Drug Enforcement Administration had offered a reward of $5 million for information leading to the arrest of Javier Antonio Calle Serna, the Los Angeles Times reported. Investigators say Calle Serna, 43, a former member of the guerilla group FARC, is the head of the Rastrojos, a criminal group that ships cocaine to Joaquin \"El Chapo\" Guzman in Mexico. National Police Gen. Roberto Leon Riano said Calle Serna decided to negotiate the terms of his surrender because of the dogged and \"relentless\" investigation by Colombia. Calle Serna\'s brother was arrested in March in Quito, Ecuador. Calle Serna was indicted in 2009 in the Eastern District of New York. U.S. authorities say he moved several tons of cocaine from Colombia to Mexico.
