Colombia plans new rescue bid after building collapse

Authorities planned to resume their search Monday for workers missing in a Colombian apartment building collapse that claimed the lives of at least two people in Medellin. Nine people were still believed trapped in the ruins of the newly built 22-story building, which gave way Saturday. The search for survivors was hampered by heavy rains, but Medellin\'s acting mayor Claudia Restrepo said rescue efforts would resume later Monday albeit without heavy machinery due to an unstable adjacent building. President Juan Manuel Santos said in a tweet \"we are still following the Medellin (situation). Still nine missing.  ... Sending in more help.\" Officials said two bodies were found late Sunday. They said they managed to pull three people from the rubble alive. The apartment building, one of several in a complex in the El Poblado municipality southwest of Medellin, had been evacuated after inspectors warned of a risk of collapse. Workers were inside trying to shore up the structure when it came down, officials said. Five other towers in the same complex have been evacuated as a precautionary measure, officials said.
