
The death toll rose to six in the gas truck explosion on Turkey's southeastern Diyarbakir-Bingol highway late Monday.
The Turkish Ministry of Health's Disaster and Emergency Management Department head, Dr. Muzaffer Akkoca and a general surgeon from Ankara Numune Hospital, Isa Sozen visited the injured in hospital.
Akkoca said the Ministry of Health formed a crisis desk in the Ministry of Health's Disaster Coordination Center to deal with the unprecedented amount of burnt cases in the incident. Akkoca explained the diagnosis and treatment of the victims were conducted promptly within the first 24 hours.
"The death toll rose to 6 and 64 people are undergoing treatment," said Akkoca. He further offered his condolences to those who died in the explosion and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Akkoca also explained they will carry out a psychosocial rehabilitation program under the guidance of the Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Policies.
