
A person injured in the eruption of a volcano in Indonesia died of serious burns at a hospital Sunday, medical officials said, raising the death toll to 15. Surya Sembiring was a resident of the village of Guru Kinayan, which was inundated by a cloud of hot volcanic ash spewed out by the volcano Saturday. Indonesia's Antra news agency said the fatalities included residents of other communities near the base of Sinabung. At least three patients remained in critical condition Sunday. Government scientists said the area remained at risk for further ash falls, and people living within 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) of the volcano should be evacuated.
