The Philippine government announced that the death toll from Typhoon Bopha has reached 647. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, 1,482 were injured while 780 are still missing. Total number of affected families reached 487,364 or 5.41 million persons in 30 provinces, the Council reported Monday. Typhoon Bopha destroyed infrastructure facilities worth ($84.99 million), according to a preliminary report released by the Council. Agriculture Ministry said that the hurricane destroyed rice crops worth ($210.1 million). Philippine President Benigno Aquino III has declared a state of national calamity in 50 typhoon-affected. Typhoon Bopha is the strongest tropical storm hit the Philippines this year.
