Testimony in the molestation trial of a California man revealed the dysfunctional home life that may have led his son to be charged with kidnapping and murder. Genaro Garcia Fernandez, 51, went on trial Wednesday in Santa Clara County, Calif., Superior Court on 18 counts of sex crimes against two female relatives, the San Jose (Calif.) Mercury News reported. His son, Antolin Garcia-Torres, 21 is to go on trial next year in the kidnapping and killing of 15-year-old Sierra Miller, who was last seen March 16. Her body has never been found. In his opening statement, prosecutor Murat Ozgur alleged Fernandez first fondled the primary victim when she was 4 years old. She testified she first reported Fernandez touching her inappropriately when she was 5 and began raping her periodically when she was just 7. The second accuser said she once say Fernandez whip the other victim with a \"cord.\" The primary accuser said she would pull out drawers of a bureau to barricade her bedroom. His wife testified that Fernandez hit her \"a lot.\" Fernandez was charged 11 months before his son was charged. The primary victim said she finally came forward because she wanted to protect her own children. Fernandez, like his son, faces life in prison if convicted.
