A suicide bomb blast hit Istiklal Street in the Beyoglu district on Saturday.
According to Istanbul's governor, at least five people were killed in the blast, including the bomber himself, and 20 were wounded.
''The wounded were sent to hospitals around the district in the European side of Istanbul,''Governor Vasip Sahin said as quoted by Anadolu Agency.
Security forces evacuated the area, while the street has been closed to traffic.
