
One person has been confirmed dead and 10 others injured as flood washed away more than 500 houses in Baghlan-e-Markazi district of the northern Baghlan province with Pul-e-Khumri as its capital 160 km north of Kabul early Saturday, district governor Gohar Khan Babri said.
"Heavy rain begun showering in Baghlan-e-Markazi district Friday evening but the people left their houses to safer areas, and it was early Saturday when flash flood hit the area and washed away more than 500 houses," Babri told reporters here.
The flood, he said had also destroyed the water canal of more than 125,000 acres of agricultural lands, besides killing hundreds of cattle heads of the locals.
He also added that survey has been initiated to determine the damages inflicted to the area.
