
Floods have claimed 134 lives and left 12 people missing in China so far this year, said the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters on Tuesday.
Floods have affected 19 provinces, regions and municipalities, involving 19.35 million residents and 1.29 million hectares of crops. Seven provinces and regions have seen relatively serious floods, including Guangdong, Hunan, Guizhou, Jiangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang and Guangxi.
In June alone, floods killed 66 and left six missing.
China entered this year's flood season on Tuesday, according to the headquarters. Strong rain is forecast to hit Beijing, Tianjin and the provinces of Hebei, Jiangsu, Jiangxi and Yunnan on Tuesday and Wednesday.
