
An Indian flight carrying 176 passengers from Delhi caught fire while it was landing in Nepalese capital Kathmandu, Indian media reported Saturday. The media while identifying the Indian private airlines as IndiGo 6E 031, said all passengers were evacuated through safety doors of the plane by the rescue teams and were in safe conditions. The airlines said in a statement that after parking the plane, the ground engineer observed smoke and fire from the right brake assembly and advised evacuation of all passengers and crew. "One hundred and seventy-one passengers were evacuated by the slide-chute, by which time the fire was brought under control. The remaining passengers and crew left the aircraft by the forward step ladder," airline statement released in New Delhi said. The media quoting sources in the Indian Directorate of General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said the aviation body was informed about the fire incident in the plane, adding, DGCA would be designating a team to conduct investigation into the matter.
