A joint Afghan-coalition security operation led to the capture of a terrorist group leader in Afghanistan\'s Kunduz province Monday, officials said. The leader who was arrested allegedly directed a number of improvised explosive device attacks in the province, the U.S. Defense Department said in a release. The suspect also allegedly obtained IEDs, weapons and rockets and handed them out to insurgents throughout the region, military officials said. Two other suspected insurgents were arrested and IED-making components were seized in the operation, officials said. Other combined forces operations in the Balkh, Kandahar, Helmand, Nangarhar, and Khost provinces led to the arrests of several suspected insurgents in each province.
