Italian navy in bid to rescue some 200 migrants off Lampedusa

The Italian navy said Wednesday it has sent a frigate and helicopter to rescue some 200 migrants onboard a boat in the central Mediterranean. According to dpa, the vessel was seen around 90 nautical miles (170 kilometres) south of the island of Lampedusa, Italy's southern outpost which is roughly halfway between Sicily and Tunisia
