Police in Georgia said a customer at a cafe accidentally fired his gun while reaching into his pocket for money. Athens-Clarke County Police said the 22-year-old Loganville man was at the Fatz Cafe Wednesday in Athens when he accidentally fired his .45-caliber pistol while reaching into his pocket for cash to pay his tab, the Athens Banner-Herald reported Friday. Police said the bullet passed through the chair, ricocheted off the floor and came to a rest on top of the chair. The man initially left after paying his bill, but returned while officers were at the eatery "to make sure everyone knew he was the one who had the accidental discharge," the police incident report said. The gun was wedged between the man's belt and his pants at the time of the firing, police said. The report said an officer told the man his way of carrying the gun was "not the best way for safety." Police said the man offered to pay the cost of fixing the damage to the chair.
