A 35-year-old man was shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants near his house in Vidya Vihar colony here, the police said today.
Vishal Singh was shot dead while he was returning from Sigra market and had reached the colony gates, they said.
Singh tried to run but the assailants chased him and opened indiscriminate fire, they said.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Police recovered over half a dozen empty shells of 9 mm pistol and also a .32 bore pistol from the spot.
