The tip that led the FBI to fugitive Boston mob boss Whitey Bulger came from a former Miss Iceland who called from her homeland, The Boston Globe reported. The newspaper said Sunday it had identified Anna Bjornsdottir, Miss Iceland 1974, as the tipster. Bjornsdottir, a former model and actress who appeared in a number of movies and TV shows, was a part-time neighbor of Bulger and his girlfriend Catherine Greig in Santa Monica, Calif. Her phone call to the FBI in June, which led to the arrest of Bulger and Greig, earned Bjornsdottir a $2 million reward. She apparently recognized a news photo after the FBI launched a publicity drive about Bulger, who had been on the run since 1994.Bjornsdottir refused to talk to the Globe on two occasions, the newspaper said. Her husband, Halldor Gudmundsson, told the newspaper in an e-mail his wife did not want publicity.Bulger faces a long list of criminal charges in Boston and elsewhere, including murder. Greig is being held on charges of helping a fugitive.
