A young neighbor was charged Saturday with killing an Australian couple found dead in their home in a quiet Melbourne suburb. Thomas Hemming, 21, was arrested Friday, two days after the bodies of Cheryl and Robert Adamson were discovered, the Age reported. He appeared before a magistrate Saturday morning charged with two counts of murder. The bodies were found Wednesday in Murrumbeena after Robert Adamson, 65, an accountant, failed to show up at work. Senior Sgt. Stephen McIntyre, a detective with the homicide squad, called the killings "brutal." "They've both been assaulted and it would appear that a weapon was used, but until we've done a post-mortem we won't know what that weapon was," he said. Neighbors said the Adamsons had lived in their house for 40 years. Cheryl Adamson, 60, was a librarian at Melbourne Grammar School.
