Nepal's UCPN (Maoist) Party which suffered unexpected loss in Nov. 19 national election, has started serious internal deliberations for the re-building of the party, party leaders said Friday. The party is holding a meeting of politburo members to chalk out the future political course and prepare a detailed action plan about revamping party's weak organization that led to the defeat of the party in last month Constituent Assembly(CA) election. In the party meeting, leaders have suggested the leadership start massive campaign from grass-root level to strengthen the party's organizational structure. In the meeting, senior leader Baburam Bhattarai, who is also former prime minister and known as Maoist ideologue inside the party, has proposed to set up new organizational structure for rebuilding the party. "We are discussing a detail plan for strengthening the party organization and formulating a new policy,"said Maoist spokesperson Agni Sapkota. The Maoist party which launched a 10-year insurgency became the largest party in 2008 with a landslide victory in the Constituent Assembly (CA). But in the Nov. 19 election, the party suffered humiliating loss, scoring a distant third after Nepali Congress and CPN-UML. Party leaders said their communist ideals are fast eroding and there is a need to revive the party's original agenda and structure. Last year, UCPN (Maoist) suffered split as its senior leader Mohan Baidya formed a new party called CPN-Maoist.
