Doctor urges parents to keep a vigil on their children while they were swimming
Abu Dhabi - Emirates Voice

Paramedics of Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services ( DCAS) revived and saved a 13 -year-old girl who had almost drowned while she was in the swimming pool of the building she lives in with her family at Al Mamzar neighbourhood in Dubai.

Talib Gholum Talib, director of the ambulance operations department at DCAS, said the corporation was tipped off on Sunday at 1pm that a child had almost drowned before she was pulled out from the swimming pool and that her heart had stopped beating and she was not breathing.

The ambulance emergency responder swung into action and reached the site, and alerted the emergency doctor to rush directly to the venue. Paramedics as well as the doctor reached the place in only four minutes.
Dr Hafiz Mubarak, the emergency doctor, said the heart of the little girl had stopped beating after her parents had pulled her out of the swimming pool.

"We formed a cardiopulmonary resuscitation and provided them with the medicine that resuscitate s the heart and opened an windpipe," he said, adding that within a few minutes the child became active again, and was immediately taken to Dubai Hospital, where the CTG scan showed her heart was normal, which means the  CPR was done systematically and professionally."

The prompt action and concerted effort of the taskforce had contributed in saving the girl's life. Her parents extended thanks and appreciation to the team of DCAS for their efforts, he said.

Dr Hafiz urged parents to keep a vigil on their children while they were swimming, be it in the sea or the swimming pool and not allow them to go to places which are not designated for swimming.

He also asked them to take precautionary measures and accompany their kids as they go for swimming, while telling them to follow the instructions of lifeguards.
