U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., has been released from the Mayo Clinic and is back in Washington, an aide said Friday. Jackson has been convalescing at home with his wife and children, Jackson Chief of Staff Rick Bryant told the Chicago Tribune. Bryant said he did not know when Jackson left the hospital but had been planning to drive from the Minnesota clinic to Washington. Jackson, 47, has been on a leave of absence from Congress since mid-June and returns in time for the opening session of the House after a five-week recess. Jackson underwent treatment at Mayo for bipolar depression.
