Eleven people, including employees of Afghanistan's Election Commission, were killed when their vehicle struck a roadside
bomb, an official said Sunday, according to dpa.
"Three female staff of the Election Commission and three observers
were returning from a polling centre in the outskirts of Aibak city
Saturday evening when the bomb placed by the enemies of the people
hit their car," said Seddiq Azizi, a spokesman for the governor of
the northern Samangan province.
Five others in the van, including members of the women's
families and a child, died in the blast, he said.
There were some 150 attacks across the country during the elections
on Saturday, killing over 60 people, including about 20 assailants,
government officials said.
Turnout was reported to be higher than expected, however, with more
than 7 million people voting.
