Slovakia backs Ukraine\'s EU membership bid

Slovakia will support Ukraine in its effort to obtain European Union (EU) membership, Foreign Minister Mikulas Dzurinda said Tuesday. \"Ukraine\'s membership in the European Union is one of the main interests of the Slovak Republic, we have been working in this direction, \" Dzurinda said during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Kostyantyn Gryshchenko. Ukraine and Slovakia are close partners in transportation, energy and others sectors. Slovakia canceled its consular fee for issuing visas for Ukrainians several months ago.
