A weekend avalanche in British Columbia has claimed the life of a snowmobiler, authorities say. The man was killed about noon Saturday at Goat Ridge in the Clemina Creek snowmobiling area about 19 miles south of Valemount, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said the victim was one of several snowmobile riders who were in the area when the slide occurred. Search-and-rescue workers were unable to remove the man's body until Sunday because conditions were deemed to dangerous for them to enter the avalanche area Saturday, the CBC said.
