A suicide bomber struck a convoy of the United Kingdom embassy in the Afghan capital city Kabul on Thursday killing five people and wounding 35 others, officials said.
Afghan Ministry of Health in a statement said the suicide attack left five persons dead and 35 others wounded.
A spokesperson for UK embassy said in a statement, "A British embassy vehicle was attacked. There are some injuries. We are working with Afghan authorities." Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said the blast was powerful enough to wound 33 Afghan bystanders and destroy three cars nearby. General Ayoub Salangi, another spokesman of the ministry, said the attack took place near Pul-e-Charkhi road close to Qabalbai locality in Kabul.
He confirmed the suicide bomber rammed his motorbike into the British Embassy vehicle.
According to local media reports, at least five people have been killed -- including a foreigner and dozens others were injured in the attack.
