Suspected killer dies in RCMP shootout

A security guard suspected in a double homicide was mortally wounded Wednesday in a shootout with Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the agency said. The RCMP got a tip that Angus David Mitchell\'s van was parked in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, The (Vancouver, British Columbia) Province reported. Mitchell was suspected of wounding his former landlord Tuesday and killing two people in a sushi restaurant Sunday, all in Burnaby, just east of Vancouver. Police Superintendent Dave Walsh said police surrounded the van, bringing in police dogs and a helicopter. Shortly after noon, they used a loudspeaker to let Mitchell know he was cornered. Officers opened fire after Mitchell came out carrying a gun and fired one shot, Walsh said. Mitchell was pronounced dead about an hour later. A woman who worked with Mitchell for several weeks described him as a loner who said little except when he became enraged. \"Everyone got a creepy feeling,\" she told The Province. \"I caught the vibe that he wasn\'t good, so I stayed away from him.\" Mitchell left a profanity-laced rant on his Facebook page, aimed at a former employer -- Mirko Filipovic, owner of Themis Security Inc. -- which began: \"Do you think its not true? the fact that you had me wait for over 2 hours, the fact that you are a insignificant lowly little punk who masquerades as a successful person?\"
