A German commuter train crashed into a maintenance crane on the tracks Friday, killing three people and injuring 13 others, police said. The train, which had been en route from Frankfurt to Hanau, collided with the crane near the town of Offenbach, the BBC reported. The driver of the train and two members of a construction crew were killed, German media reported. Seven people who suffered serious injuries were taken to hospitals. The train, carrying 35 passengers on a busy commuter route, was believed to have been traveling at about 60 mph at the time of the crash, the BBC said. The maintenance crane had been performing work on the tracks.
