An Emirati woman, in her forties, succumbed to fatal injuries she received in a gruesome traffic accident here on the Al Julan road in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi, director general of the central operations room, RAK police, said the mishap took place on Saturday evening at 6.40pm.

The central operations room of the RAK Police, having been alerted of the collision, dispatched traffic police, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams to the site in a record time.

"Initial enactment of the accident showed that the collision was blamed on speeding and entering a main road without checking if it was clear first, as was the case in similar accidents over the last two weeks."

Unfortunately, the driver of the other car, who was driving on the correct lane on the main road, received moderate injuries. "The paramedics and rescue teams tried their best to save the life of the victim, but she succumbed to the fatal injuries she sustained and died on the spot."

The corpse of the victim was shifted to the morgue of the hospital for burial by relatives as due while the accident file was referred to the bodies concerned for legal procedures.

Brig. Humaidi urged all drivers to observe traffic rules and regulations to ensure road users' safety and theirs. "Drivers should be more attentive on the road and observe speed limits."

Few days ago, a 21-year-old Emirati young man was killed in gruesome road accident. The victim lost control over the steering wheel, veered off the road, and fell off a steep cliff.

Also, two Emirati nationals received serious injuries in a four-car pile-up accident on the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed road late. "The mishap was blamed on speeding and the drivers' failure to leave due safety space."
