UK launches first airstrikes on Daesh in Syria

British fighter jets have struck so-called Daesh in Syria - just hours after MPs voted to approve military action in the war-torn country, ITV reported on Thursday.
Four RAF Tornado jets took off from the UK's Akrotiri base in Cyprus shortly after David Cameron's plans were overwhelmingly backed in the Commons.
Michael Fallon, the defence secretary, said the first wave of airstrikes dealt a "real blow" to Daesh after RAF pilots targeted the Omar oil field - which is under the group's control - in eastern Syria.
