A small plane crashed into a US home Sunday killing all three of the people on board, while the house's occupants escaped a devastating blaze that erupted immediately, officials said.
"The four occupants of the single-family home were able to get out of the building before it became fully engulfed in flames," the Massachusetts State Police said in a statement.
The plane crashed around 6pm (2200 GMT) at a private residence in the town of Plainville, Massachusetts, some 35 miles (56 kilometers) southwest of Boston.
"The three occupants of the plane were killed in the crash," said police, who did not disclose the victims' identities pending notification of their next-of-kin.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the accident, which involved a Beech A36 plane, it said on Twitter.
The Federal Aviation Administration said that the plane left Lancaster Airport in Pennsylvania and was headed to the Norwood Memorial Airport in Massachusetts when it crashed, according to The Boston Globe.
The Plainville Fire Department extinguished the blaze by around 8pm, police said.
