A mine in Zambia on Tuesday suspended its operations following an accident that killed four miners.
The four miners at Mopani Copper Mines' South Ore Body Shaft in Kitwe city, died on Sunday night after falling in the underground pit when the area they were operating from caved in.
They were among 94 other miners on duty. The others survived the accident with no injuries.
The mine, a subsidiary of Glencore AG International of Switzerland, has suspended operations at the South Ore Body Shaft to allow rescue teams to retrieve the bodies of the miners that are still trapped underground, according to the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation.
