Nanny burn's 3-year-old's hand, leg on hot stove
Prosecutors say she also ripped hair out of the children's heads.
Abu Dhabi - Emirates Voice
A Connecticut nanny accused of burning a 3-year-old's hand and leg on a hot stove, lifting her up by her hair and trapping her inside a toy chest has accepted a plea deal.
According to a News-Times report, Lidia Quilligana pleaded guilty on Thursday to second-degree assault, which was reduced from first-degree assault in exchange for pleading guilty to 24 counts of risk of injury to a minor.
Quilligana pleaded guilty to some charges under the Alford doctrine, meaning she doesn't agree with all the evidence but acknowledges that there is enough for a conviction.
She will be sentenced Aug. 22.
Police say Quilligana was arrested in 2015 after she was caught on video abusing the 3-year-old and her 1-year-old twin siblings. Prosecutors say she also ripped hair out of the children's heads.

to 'eternal style' of late Alaia
Paris - Emiratesvoice
Two months after legendary designer Azzedine Alaia's sudden death plunged the fashion world into mourning, an exhibition in homage to the "King of Cling" opens Monday in his studios in Paris. The Tunisian-born designer, renowned for the way his clothes hugged the body, died suddenly in November aged 82, reportedly of heart failure after falling down the stairs at his home. The diminutive maverick, who ignored fashion week convention by showing when and where he wanted, in July produced his first couture collection in six years to rapturous reviews. Now some of his most iconic dresses are going on display in the glass-roofed gallery next to his studio and home in the Marais district where he used to show his creations. It includes the dress worn by supermodel Naomi Campbell, his longtime friend and muse, when she led
