The U.A.E. Pakistan Assistance Programme has announced that under President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's directives, over 8 million Pakistani children were vaccinated against polio during the months of June and July and August.
The move also comes in line with the initiative of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the U.A.E. Armed Forces to eradicate polio worldwide.
The programme said the U.A.E. vaccination campaign has scored huge success by exceeding the targeted sector by higher percentages in more than 25 areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and the tribal region.
It vaccinated 3.04 million children in June, 2.03 million in July, and 2.9 million in August, bringing the total number of children vaccinated during that period to over 8 million.
The administration of the programme noted that during August, the vaccination was stepped up in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and the other tribal districts, from which 95 percent of the recently detected 178 cases came.
